Our Team

James Coats

Principal Chiropractor

I have been grateful for the opportunity to practise my passion for nearly a decade in Toowoomba. There, I have worked in an amazing team environment and developed my unique skillset, working with thousands of patients to help them discover chiropractic. My wife Tae and I have now moved to Brisbane and have started Coats Chiropractic as the next step in our journey and to commence working as a principal chiropractor. Outside of chiropractic, Tae and I are raising two wonderful daughters, Piper and Neve, who each love getting adjusted! My other interests extend to tennis, soccer, futsal, cycling and cross-fit.

Tae Grainger

Clinic Manager and Reception

I was first introduced to chiropractic over ten years ago, when I first met James. Prior to that, I was working as a receptionist for an osteopathic clinic while studying. As well as being a mother to three tenacious little girls, I am a qualified radiographer and am interested in anatomy and physiology as well as X-rays, CT scans and mammography. Additionally, I am passionate about writing and the performing arts. I am so excited to support James in starting Coats Chiropractic and look forward to developing our business and building relationships within the community.

FAQ’s and patient education.

What type of education to chiropractors receive?

Australian chiropractors are five year university trained, and are government registered and government regulated health professionals. All accredited chiropractic programs in Australia include units in basic and clinical sciences. Also included are units in physical therapy, physical rehabilitation, radiology, nutrition, paediatrics, geriatrics, public health and evidence-based practice. As with other primary healthcare professions, chiropractic pre-professional training requires a significant proportion of the curricula to be clinical subjects related to evaluating and caring for patients. As part of professional training, final-year students must also complete a minimum of a one-year supervised clinical internship. All registered chiropractors must complete mandatory continuing education each year in order to maintain registration and practice as a non-pharmacological, non-surgical spine care and musculoskeletal-allied healthcare professional. (Australian Chiropractic Association)

Is chiropractic care safe?

Chiropractic has a very low risk profile. It is the result of a conservative approach to health that avoids invasive methods of spinal health care. Chiropractors use skill, not force or strength to conduct specific chiropractic adjustments. Various types of manual therapy and low force interventions are also used where appropriate.
